About Us

Gibson Furniture has been family owned and operated in Gallatin since 1972. Serving the cities of Gallatin, Hendersonville, Lebanon, Portland, and more, we provide free local delivery and setup. This fifty year history has a special meaning for Eddie Gibson, the second-generation owner of this furniture store, that places emphasis on quality furnishings at affordable prices and uncompromisable customer service.

Jim Gibson first opened the store in 1972, seeing a need for customers to buy locally without having to shop a large commercial franchise. As a young boy, Eddie would go to work with his dad on Saturdays. During high school and college, he worked at the store during summers. Growing up in the business, Eddie saw firsthand that customers would return time and again when they were given quality customer service and had a selection of name-brand appliances and furniture from which to choose – all backed by a longer warranty. At the death of his father eight years ago, Eddie took over the business full time. His mother enjoys working one day a week as a sales person, which enables her to keep in touch with long-time customers who have become friends and to meet first-time buyers. The store has approximately twelve employees, some have been there for more than ten years.

“Being an independent dealer, we strive to offer the best service and experience, which sets up apart from the chain stores,” said Gibson. Some of the name brands found at Gibson Furniture include Ashley, Broyhill, Bassett, Vaughan, Vaughan-Bassett, Liberty, Southern Motion , Pulaski, American Woodcrafters and Best Chairs. Appliances include Whirlpool, Maytag, Frigidaire and Speed Queen. “We learned that the small to mid-size manufacturers would give us better service and we, in turn, could provide our customers with the better service they needed and deserved,” he said.

The staff is seeing second and third generation customers. “This gives us the opportunity to get to know many of our customers on a personal basis.” In addition to local customers, Gibson said many travel from Lebanon, Mt. Juliet, Franklin and Brentwood. Free delivery is offered within a forty-five mile radius.

Gibson said that most of what they sell has longer warranties than offered by other stores. “We service everything we sell and we don’t carry any off-brand names, which means the warranty is there to back-up each sale.”

Sumner County and the surrounding areas have experienced tremendous growth in the past five years. During that time and a few years prior, the outdoor living trend was born. More and more people prefer deluxe, upscale furniture for the patio, porch or deck. Seeing this rising interest led Gibson to partner with Danny Shrum to open the Gibson Patio store in March of 2007. The 6,000-square-foot showroom features a full selection of patio and outdoor furniture by Brown Jordan, Lloyd Flanders, Woodard, Telescope, Winston and O.W. Lee. Shrum was an outdoor sales representative for several outdoor and patio furniture manufacturers.

Both the furniture store and patio showroom offers in-house financing with approved credit, as well as delivery and set-up, usually on the day of purchase. Gibson said he is very grateful for and thankful to the repeat customers who have supported the business over the years. “They are the ones who keep us in business,” furnishing their homes.”

To those who haven’t been to Gibson Furniture or Gibson Patio, we invite you to pay a visit. “We’re not commercially oriented and aren’t in a fancy building adjacent to a huge mall. We feel that if you give us a chance you’ll appreciate our service and find exactly what you’re looking for to furnish your home inside and out. Let us get to know you,” Gibson said. “We’ll be able to impress you like other stores can’t or won’t.”

The Gibson family supports the community by being involved with the chamber of commerce, participating in local parades of homes and the Junior Service League of Gallatin’s show house.
